We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our team at Chesham Sewage Treatment Works, HP5 1TH. You will be working on various sites in the Colne North area. As the successful candidate, you will ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and mechanical plant equipment.
Working within the maintenance team, you will follow robust planned maintenance, getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates all year round.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician:
- Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
- Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
- Providing technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required.
Examples of equipment that you will be working on include various pumps and associated control gear, 3 phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD’s, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
Base Location: Chesham - HP5 1TH
Working Pattern: 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30 am – 15:36 pm plus standby & overtime opportunity increasing earning by potential £8,000-£10,000. All PPE, tools, Van and Fuel card are provided.
What you should bring to the role:
- You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity.
- Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering with an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3 is crucial.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
- A valid driving licence is essential, and all necessary equipment, such as the vehicle and tools, are provided.
