We’re looking for a strategic thinker with strong technical acumen to lead the development and governance of our maintenance strategy. In this key role, you’ll be responsible for creating and refining standards, task specifications, and actionable plans that enhance equipment reliability and availability while maintaining the right balance between performance, cost, and risk.

What you’ll be doing as a Maintenance Strategy Engineer

  • Continuous development of Thames Water\’s maintenance strategy to drive cost-effective, high reliability of the asset base and overall Maintenance Excellence in the business.
  • Management of all Maintenance Strategy, Standards and Task Specification documentation.
  • Governance and decisions for all maintenance plan change request processes.
  • Leading workshop reviews with the operational team to promote understanding of the strategy and tailor maintenance plans for \’best fit\’ in the business.

What you should bring to the role

  • Sound knowledge of maintenance and corporate systems. (CMMS, eg SAP or Maximo).
  • Awareness of RCM/RCA/FMEA principles.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and technical understanding, with the ability to effectively facilitate technical review groups.
  • Qualification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering principles and practices (or equivalent work experience). HNC or equivalent level.
  • Confident in interpreting and understanding complex technical documents.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Relevant business or technical experience.
  • Knowledge of key performance indicators (KPIS) used in maintenance, such as Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
  • Knowledge of asset management (ISO55000) and/or quality management (ISO9001) systems is beneficial.

Base location: This is a hybrid working with the ability to be based anywhere across the Thames Water patch. There is a requirement to travel to operational sites.

Due to the nature of this role, a driving licence is essential, and this role comes with a car allowance.
