Position: Temporary Print Machine Operator (Flexographic Flexo)
Contract Length: Temporary (Approx. 3 months, with an immediate start)
Role Summary: We are seeking a skilled Flexographic Print Machine Operator to join our team on a temporary basis for up to 3 months. The ideal candidate will be available for an immediate start to hit the ground running.
Salary: Depending on experience
Working hours are 08:00 to 16:30 (Break at 12:30 - 13:30)
Role Purpose: To produce blank labels and printed and tinted labels using the flexo-press. To inspect and remove any faults from the reels of printed material. Also to package products ready for dispatch.
Individual Responsibilities:
- Operate any of the company’s label presses including the flexo press.
- Operate the flexo press to carry out tints and one colour print jobs.
- Mix inks to required Pantone.
- Mount plates to required accuracy.
- Operate video inspection camera to monitor quality.
- Operate UV and IR drying systems.
- Adjust register on print jobs.
- Correct print quality issues.
- Understand a job sheet.
- Pick the correct cutter and return to the correct place at the end of the job.
- Mount cutter onto magnetic cylinder and mount cylinder into label press.
- Load material onto label press, set web-guide and slitter knives.
- Set cutter pressure to correct level.
- When starting to run a job, make adjustments to ensure optimum running speed with minimum chance of labels coming off with the matrix and wrap arounds.
- Operate label press computer to set number of labels and mandrel tension etc.
- Produce blank labels or slit printed material according to job sheet.
- Watch for faults while running the label press and remove faults.
- Box rolls of labels according to job sheet.
- Mark up job sheet with box type used on new jobs.
- Ensure quantities of cores and boxes are correct on job sheet and mark up / correct where necessary.
- Enter production times on job sheet.
- Mark up job sheet with any errors found on job sheet.
- Carry out daily maintenance routines as defined in the maintenance schedule.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Keep working area tidy.
- Report any faults or problems with equipment used on fault report forms and pass to production supervisor.
Requirements: Minimum of one year operating a flexo-press with a good standard of work.
