We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Mill Green STW. Your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently, using proactive and reactive maintenance methods to keep the site running.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician:
- Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process, which may involve diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
- Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and offer training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Work on a range of equipment, including motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, 3‑phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
- Complete statutory checks as required.
- Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
Base Location: Mill Green STW – AL9 5PE
Working Pattern: 38 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. Plus standby & overtime opportunity, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000‑£10,000 upon completion of essential company training.
Equipment: All PPE, tools, plus the provision of a van when on duty and on call.
What you should bring to the role:
- ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering qualification.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues.
- Physical fitness, with the ability to work in confined spaces after completing the appropriate training.
- A valid driving licence.
