About the Role:
Pertemps are currently recruiting Skilled Mechanical Operatives on behalf of Edwards Vacuum, based in Clevedon. This role will support the production line by building mechanical abatement systems and pump frames prior to final testing. You will be responsible for assembling cabinets, installing sub-assemblies and building machines to the correct specification and quality standards.
Duties include:
- Assemble mechanical systems, cabinets and pump frames
- Fit sub-assemblies to cabinets or frames
- Prepare components and cabinets ready for build
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and layout diagrams
- Use P&IDs to support machine builds
- Carry out basic wiring connections and connect electrical devices where required
- Perform leak testing and fault finding on assembled units
- Follow build notes and technical instructions
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and product quality
- Carry out rework, corrections and modifications when required
- Maintain 5S standards and a clean, organised work environment
- Use hand and power tools safely
- Complete production documentation accurately
- Identify and report issues with materials, documentation or assembly
- Support other production areas when required
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in mechanical assembly or fitting
- Ability to read and interpret technical and mechanical drawings
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Good problem-solving skills
- Experience with P&IDs, basic electrical wiring, testing, fault finding or leak testing would be advantageous
