Overview

We’ve got an exciting opportunity for a CBM Engineer, Vibration & Lubrication, to join Thames Water. The role holder will assist in the development and continuous improvement of the vibration condition monitoring strategy as an integral part of the maintenance strategy. This role is critical to driving a new approach to systems-led, proactive maintenance; a key part of our AMP8 plan.

You will form strong relationships with the operational teams to drive the delivery of the condition monitoring plan and any resulting maintenance. You will work with the project team to advise on the condition monitoring requirements and technical specification of any condition monitoring equipment.

What you’ll be doing

  • Conducting routine vibration-based condition monitoring analysis on critical assets.
  • Creation of reporting and recommendations to Operations Functions and Asset Management.
  • Recommending improvements to maintenance regimes based on long-term trended data.
  • Carry out technical appraisals on the asset base and make recommendations for the most appropriate condition-based maintenance regime for effective whole life cost.
  • Ensuring efficient data collection routines are being carried out and that databases are kept up to date.
  • Following through on the condition, triggered work to completion, visiting the site as necessary to assist/check the effectiveness of the solution.
  • Conducting lubrication surveys, raising recommendations based on findings to extend asset life.
  • Support operations with the thermography process.

What you should bring to the role

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Vibration analysis (BINDT or Mobius) level 2 is essential.
  • Proven experience in the capture, analysis, and reporting of condition monitoring vibration data.
  • Experience in the creation of assets, points and routes within vibration analysis software.
  • Engineering experience gained within an operational / maintenance environment.
  • Confidence in leading technical discussions on condition monitoring.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Ability to present technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • A full UK Driving licence is essential.

Additional skills and experiences would be great to have

  • Thermography analysis (BINDT or Mobius) & Machine lubricant analysis. (ISO 18436-4, I) Level 1 is preferred.
  • Lubrication specification and recommendation experience is desired.
