Operations Capital Programme Manager – London Wastewater Regions
Thames Water has embarked on our latest 5‑year multi‑billion investment plan for London, to protect our rivers and serve the needs of our customers and communities.
Reporting directly to our Head of Region, the role is responsible for capital programmes for the London wastewater regions, comprising sewage treatment works, networks and pumping stations.
Responsibilities
- Project liaison between Capital Delivery and Operations teams as well as all directly managed work.
- Manage the directly managed capital works (reactive and planned) and minor capital works, and health and safety capital allocation budgets for the region.
- Oversee risk from identification through to delivery of projects.
- Work with System Planning to identify gaps between current, medium and long‑term investment requirements and develop short‑ to medium‑term investment proposals for the business.
- Represent Operations on larger investment schemes and lead the identification, development, acceptance and implementation of solutions that deliver required benefits across the 5‑year AMP.
- Work closely with key operations and business stakeholders to analyse risk and balance priorities across all regions, supporting Wastewater investment across the 5‑year AMP and reporting performance against agreed targets.
- Accountable for engaging, coordinating and supporting operational input into the capital solutions associated with the AMP delivery programme.
- Travel across the region as required.
Location
Hybrid role with a flexible London base location.
Essential Criteria
- Experience successfully managing and delivering large asset infrastructure programmes.
- Experience of asset infrastructure management from the utilities industry, large‑scale construction, engineering or similar operations industry.
- Broad business knowledge, financial and commercial acumen with demonstrable ability to manage budgets and drive local accountability for cost control.
- Track record in project and programme management with ability to deliver projects that meet commercial and technical objectives.
- Extensive operational understanding with a proven track record of delivering outcomes and budgets in collaboration with capital delivery teams.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with ability to engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Passion for health and safety and a strong focus on how work affects the environment.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate data and information to drive performance.
- Advocate for the environment with a demonstrable track record of compliance and environmental excellence.
- Ambassador for Thames Water with demonstrable ability to proactively engage and influence stakeholders.
- Self‑starting, resilient and tenacious under pressure.

- Experience of asset infrastructure management from the water sector.
- Strong understanding of London and key stakeholders and influencers.

- Competitive salary from £59,630 to £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
