We are recruiting HGV Class 1 Drivers who are also happy to drive Class 2 vehicles when required. This role involves delivering goods to retail stores from a modern, well-maintained fleet.
Job Details
- Deliveries to retail stores only
- 3–8 drops per shift
- Caged deliveries
- Some stores may require the driver to open the store for delivery (training provided on first shift)
- Drivers will also return backloads to site
- Vehicles are pre-loaded
Shift Information
- Various start times available, including: 20:00, 21:30, 02:00, 03:00, 04:00
- Minimum 8 hours guaranteed (unless specifically booked for a 4-hour shift)
- Breaks are unpaid
- Working days: Monday to Saturday
- Sunday: double time pay
- Overtime: applies after 44 hours at time and a half
Site Information
- 24-hour operation
- 14 different delivery routes
Additional Duties
- Drivers may occasionally assist in the warehouse if operationally required
Assessment & Training
- Hazard perception test (computer based)
- Road driving assessment
- Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) briefing
- First shift as a driver’s mate before driving independently
Driver Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
- Willing to drive both Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles
- CPC and Digital Tachograph card required
- Comfortable with multi-drop retail deliveries
- Professional, reliable, with minimum 12 months’ experience
- Maximum 6 penalty points
Pay
- Class 1 Days: £17.48/hr
- Class 1 Nights: £17.83/hr
- Class 2 Days: £16.56/hr
- Class 2 Nights: £16.89/hr
- Sunday: double time pay
- Overtime: applies after 44 hours at time and a half
