Your role as Senior 3D Generalist involves working with our team of Creative Designers, Editors and Animators, as well as the wider agency marketing and digital teams. You will take a lead in creating distinctive 3D content and assets for our client partners in a fast-paced, responsive environment. This is a broad, hands-on generalist role spanning concept development, modelling, texturing, look development, lighting, animation, simulation and rendering.
You will be an experienced 3D generalist with a strong eye for craft and visual storytelling, always striving to push the work to the highest possible level. Blender will be your primary 3D tool, although experience with Cinema 4D or other relevant platforms is welcomed. You will bring curiosity about culture and emerging 3D practice, a genuine interest in responsible AI-enabled production, and the adaptability to turn your hand to new challenges while actively supporting the team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ideation
- Create and articulate ideas visually as concepts, mood boards and storyboards.
- Identify opportunities for scenes and sequences.
- Turn concepts into beautifully crafted 3D films, stills, experiences and campaign assets.
- Translate creative ideas into compelling visual worlds, selecting the right 3D approach for the brief, audience, channel and production constraints.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of film for social content.
- Collaboration
- Liaise with the Account Planners and Project Managers, whilst working with the Creative Lead and the creative team to identify the requirements of projects.
- Collaborate with the wider team across the full 3D pipeline, from initial exploration and asset creation through to final render and delivery.
- Share knowledge openly, give and receive constructive feedback, and help colleagues solve creative and technical challenges.
- Work collaboratively with other departments across the agency to contribute to proposals, share ideas and expertise and problem solve to ensure a high quality and seamless experience for our client partners.
- Learning and Development
- Stay culturally aware and abreast of innovation in 3D, motion, real-time, virtual production and visual culture, translating relevant developments into stronger creative work.
- Explore AI-enabled production tools with curiosity and sound judgement, identifying responsible ways to improve ideation, workflows, craft and efficiency while protecting quality, originality, client confidentiality and rights.
- Actively seek feedback, learn new techniques and adapt to evolving briefs, tools and ways of working as the team grows.
- Administration
- Maintain well-organised project files, reusable asset libraries and clear workflow documentation so work can be shared, adapted and scaled across the team.
- Technology
- Integrate with and work with sound, syncing dialogue/music and adding sfx.
- Use Blender as the primary 3D platform, while working flexibly with Cinema 4D and other relevant tools where they are the best fit for the project.
- Build and refine efficient workflows across modelling, texturing, materials, lighting, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and optimisation.
- Other responsibilities
- Responsible for having an understanding of our client partner and agency budgets and be forthcoming with how the Agency can maximise profitability.
- Undertake continuing professional development and training, to ensure you keep your knowledge, expertise and experience up to date.
- To present and promote a professional public image in representing the agency.
- To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required, appropriate with the post.
- Participation in the Agency appraisal scheme and undertaking any professional development as identified with your line manager.
- To adhere to the company handbook and comply with relevant legislation.
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrable generalist capability across core 3D disciplines, including modelling, texturing, look development, lighting, animation and rendering.
- Proven ability to plan and manage creative output processes to deliver products and services of the highest quality.
- Experience with cinematics, real-time workflows or virtual production is desirable.
- Experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Experience in direct communication with clients.
- Experience with Unreal Engine or another real-time engine is desirable.
- A portfolio demonstrating excellent 3D craft, visual judgement and the ability to take work from idea through to polished delivery.
- Evidence of cultural curiosity and an active interest in emerging 3D aesthetics, techniques, artists, studios and production innovation.
- A genuine interest in AI-enabled creative production, with the judgement to test new tools responsibly and apply them where they add meaningful value.
- A collaborative, generous and team-first approach, with enthusiasm for sharing knowledge, learning from others and growing with an ambitious team.
- An eye for visual storytelling.
Experience & Knowledge
- Strong working knowledge of Blender, supported by experience with Cinema 4D or other relevant 3D platforms, plus Adobe Creative Cloud tools such as After Effects, Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
- A creative ideas approach to creating storyboards for engaging films.
- To be adaptable, flexible and resilient to change.
- Pro-active with experience of working under your own initiative.
