Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Freelance Fire Safety Engineers, with a strong background in structural fire engineering, to support projects designed in accordance with UK fire safety regulations. This role is intended for fully trained professionals who are already capable of operating independently. We are not seeking junior profiles or candidates requiring initial training. Professionals may be based anywhere globally, provided they possess solid and demonstrable expertise in UK fire safety legislation and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out structural fire resistance assessments of reinforced concrete, steel and timber structures, in compliance with the Eurocodes
- Provide specialist advice on passive fire protection systems, including (but not limited to) intumescent coatings and fire boards
- Contribute to the delivery of technical reports and engineering documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams to support project delivery during high workload periods
- Ensure all outputs meet UK regulatory and industry standards
Requirements
- Degree in Fire Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience in design and assessment of structures in fire conditions
- Strong, working knowledge of UK fire safety regulations (essential)
- Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality engineering outputs
- Previous experience in consultancy environments is highly desirable
- Must be legally able to operate as a freelancer / independent consultant in the country of residence
