Pathology Operations Coordinator – Evening Shift
IDEXX Laboratories is looking for a Pathology Operations Coordinator to support our Pathology departments, supplying the pathology team with digital images for diagnostic purposes and to maximize the overall efficiency of the Pathology team. In this role, you will help solve problems and handle queries from pathology teams to ensure the workflow is efficient. The responsibility of this position is to ensure accuracy and timely assignment of work to help and support the Pathology Operations team in the running of a small but busy department.
Responsibilities
- All aspects associated with digital scanning duties for both Histology and Cytology cases, including cleaning of slides, loading of scanners, archiving of glass slides, and providing digital pathology support (e.g., rescans, assigning cases).
- Ensure the accurate and timely validation and release of non-interpreted results (left over from the day shift) requiring manual authorization to UK customers.
- Liaise with pathologists reading UK cases after the UK pathology shift has finished.
- Coordinate pathology audits and support the Supervisor/Head of Department in the preparation of departmental quality documentation relevant to UKAS accreditation.
- Ensure all duties are completed by end of shift and communicate appropriately to the oncoming shift.
- Answer and handle emails and faxes related to customer issues from Customer Support, Pathologists, or other internal clients.
- Handle live view queries in Novopath and assign cases to pathologists where necessary.
- May occasionally be responsible for packing and shipping cytology cases to off-site pathologists, and for onsite pathology work assignments.
- Maintain general lab upkeep and cleanliness of lab and equipment.
- Support and maintain various processes, systems and databases.
- Perform recordkeeping, data collection and analysis.
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, preparing parcel deliveries, filing requisitions, and supporting billing, pricing and sample transportation.
What You Will Need To Succeed
- High School degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1β2 years of laboratory experience preferred but not essential.
- Reliable attendance is essential; this role is for the evening shift and may involve working largely alone, so a high level of trust and confidence is required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SOPs, MSDSs, operating and maintenance instructions, government rules and technical procedures.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task; good organizational skills are required.
- Strong initiative and follow-through; must be efficient with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as a team contributor.
- Demonstrates a high level of customer service.
- Good computer skills: Microsoft Office; SAP preferred.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 2:00pm to 10:30pm.
