Job Purpose
- Shift working – must be able to work early and late shift. No night shift involved.
- On‑site location – Whetstone, Leicester.
- Work within a small team operating CNC machinery including 3‑axis CNC milling, high‑speed spindle polishers, single‑point diamond turning machines and twin lap polishing machines to manufacture a wide range of precision optics.
- Complete duties independently while adhering to SOPs and work instruction documents.
- Work shift patterns as requested by team leader or manager to complete tasks and support business objectives.
- Participate in continuous process improvements, either as a team member or under direct instruction from the team leader or manager.
- Consistently demonstrate high levels of efficiency and quality in output while keeping scrap and rework to a minimum.
Key Responsibilities
Communication
- Continually give your team leader or manager feedback on progress, concerns, and suggestions.
- Provide accurate manufacturing completion dates to the team leader or manager to allow smooth product flow.
- Communicate with internal customers and provide prompt feedback.
Quality
- Be competent to use in‑process inspection equipment and interpret information to make process changes.
- Consistently achieve low levels of scrap and rework.
- Understand relevant standard quality specifications.
- Examine all work before passing to next stage and ensure it meets all requirements.
- Show good craftsmanship and quality in the products produced.
- Follow the site’s comprehensive safety regulations, report risks, hazards, or incidents, and ensure a safe workplace by adhering to protocols.
Productivity
- Consistently work toward, and improve, standard manufacturing times.
- Manufacture high‑specification optics utilizing your knowledge of fabrication processes.
