Senior Commercial Underwriter

Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Underwriter to lead the expansion of a profitable portfolio while maintaining strong relationships with insurers and brokers. This role involves underwriting responsibilities and business development with a focus on Property, Casualty, and Development lines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build and sustain special relationships with existing brokers and retail customers, while targeting new brokers through effective marketing of current products.
2. Ensure professional service delivery of new business and renewals to meet company income targets in line with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
3. Assist in converting renewals and new business opportunities.
4. Maintain complete electronic files using Acturis/SchemeServe/Broker Partners systems.
5. Collaborate on actions involving brokers, policyholders, and capacity providers.
6. Share expertise with fellow team members and provide support where necessary.
7. Resolve enquiries, credit control issues, and problems efficiently to foster positive broker relationships.
8. Seek and respond to customer feedback proactively.
9. Mitigate and address conflicts of interest effectively.
10. Support business unit key performance indicators and targets as directed.
11. Comply with regulatory requirements, including the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, FCA regulations, and internal company policies.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Proven track record in underwriting with expertise in Property, Casualty, and Development lines.
2. Strong relationship management skills to build and maintain effective partnerships with brokers and retail customers.
3. Proficient in using electronic file management systems (e.g., Acturis/SchemeServe).
4. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including FCA Code of Conduct (COCON).
5. Commitment to ethical behavior and treating customers fairly.
6. Dedication to ongoing professional training and development.
