Feeling like your career has hit a ceiling? You're an experienced Family Lawyer. You know your stuff, you've built a strong reputation, and you're trusted with complex matters. But what happens next? If the answer in your current firm is "not sure", it might be time to look elsewhere. We're working with an ambitious specialist family law business going through an exciting period of growth across Scotland, and they're looking for experienced Family Lawyers to join their teams in Scotland at Senior Associate level. And this isn't just another "Senior Associate" title with the same old job.
Why now?
Our client has recently partnered with one of the UK's largest specialist family law firms, creating a genuine platform for growth, investment and career development. The ambition is big. The opportunity is bigger. You'll join a business where experienced lawyers are encouraged to build their profile, develop their leadership skills and play a real part in shaping the next stage of the firm's growth. There's also a clear focus on developing people from within, including access to a dedicated career development programme designed to help solicitors identify where they want to go next - and build a plan to get there.
What will you be doing?
You’ll handle a varied and interesting caseload across family law, supported by an experienced wider team. You'll also:
- Manage your own complex caseload and deliver a consistently high level of client service.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with clients during what can be some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
- Work closely with Partners and colleagues to deliver excellent outcomes.
- Help mentor, supervise and develop more junior lawyers.
- Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the team.
- Build your own profile and reputation within the family law market.
- Play an active role in the wider team rather than simply keeping your head down and billing.
In short, you'll have the opportunity to be more than just a fee-earner.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for an experienced, qualified Family Lawyer who is ambitious about what comes next.
You’ll ideally have:
- Solid experience in family law matters.
- Strong client care skills and the empathy required when dealing with sensitive and often highly emotional circumstances.
- The ability to manage your own caseload effectively.
- A genuine interest in mentoring and developing others.
- Ambition to progress your own career and play a part in a growing business.
- A collaborative, team-first approach.
You don't need to have every box ticked. If you're good at what you do, ambitious and ready for something more, we'd like to hear from you.
What's in it for you?
This is a role designed around long-term career development, not just your next move.
You'll receive:
- 30 days' annual leave
- Hybrid working
- Enhanced benefits
- Genuine wellbeing support
- Career development
Ready for something different?
If you're a Family Lawyer who wants to look back in a few years and know you've actually progressed, developed and built something, this could be the move you've been waiting for.
Senior Associate opportunities are available in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
