Our client, a well-established and highly regarded private wealth practice based in Glasgow city centre, is expanding its team and looking to appoint an additional Private Client Solicitor/Senior Solicitor.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy, successful team working at the top end of the private client market - advising high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients on some of the most technically interesting work in the field.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Department, you'll take on a varied and intellectually engaging caseload, including:
- Preparing and advising on Wills and Powers of Attorney
- High net worth and ultra-high net worth Inheritance Tax planning, including lifetime and death planning and asset transfers
- Estate administration
- Creation and variation of Trusts
- Trust administration, including calculation of 10-year and exit charges
- Winding up trusts
- Negotiating directly with HM Revenue and Customs
You'll manage your own caseload proactively and independently, while working collaboratively within a supportive and experienced team.
There's also real scope to get involved in business development and to help train and mentor junior colleagues as the team continues to grow.
About You
- Qualified Solicitor in Scotland with a strong private client background
- Proven technical expertise across wills, estates, trusts, and succession planning
- Excellent mathematical skills, with confidence handling complex tax calculations
- Strong client care, compliance, and relationship-building skills
- Commercially aware, with an appetite to contribute to the firm's continued growth
- Comfortable working to financial targets
- Willing to attend business development events, including some outside normal working hours
- Ideally 3+ years PQE in private client/private wealth work
Nice to have (not essential)
- STEP qualified, or working towards it
- Guardianship and Intervention Order court experience
- Contentious trusts and estates experience
- Cross-border estate planning and/or administration experience
