A specialist insurance broker is looking to appoint a Credit Risk Specialist with a strong private equity focus to move into a client-facing insurance broking role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in credit risk, leveraged finance, fund finance, private credit, structured finance or financial sponsors to apply their expertise in a highly commercial and fast-growing area of the insurance market.

The role would suit someone who understands the credit dynamics behind private equity-backed transactions and wants to move into a more entrepreneurial, advisory and relationship-driven position. You will advise private equity sponsors, lenders, credit funds and other private capital clients on insurance solutions designed to support transaction execution, manage credit exposure and unlock additional deal certainty.

The role will involve:

  • Assessing credit risk across private equity-backed transactions
  • Reviewing financial, operational and transaction materials
  • Identifying areas where insurance can provide downside protection or enhance execution
  • Working closely with clients, insurers and underwriters to structure bespoke insurance solutions
  • Supporting origination across private equity sponsors, lenders, advisers and credit funds
  • Managing processes from initial client discussions through to policy placement
  • Building market intelligence around credit risk, sponsor-backed transactions, financing trends and emerging insurance solutions in the private capital market

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of credit risk in a private equity or financial sponsors context, with the ability to assess businesses, capital structures, leverage profiles and transaction risks from a commercial perspective. Prior insurance experience is not required, as full support and training will be provided.

What matters is your credibility with financial sponsor clients, lenders and credit investors, your ability to analyse credit risk, and your interest in moving into a specialist insurance broking role. You may come from credit risk, leveraged finance, private credit, direct lending, fund finance, structured finance, financial sponsors coverage, debt advisory, transaction services, ratings advisory or a related credit-focused role.

You should bring strong analytical skills, excellent commercial judgement, confidence engaging with sophisticated clients, and the ability to manage complex processes involving multiple stakeholders. This is an opportunity to move into a specialist, high-growth part of the insurance market where your credit expertise will be genuinely valued.

You will be joining a platform with strong relationships across private equity, private credit and the wider private capital market, with a clear appetite to grow its credit risk and financial lines offering. The role offers significant scope to build a personal market profile, develop deep client relationships and become a recognised specialist in a sophisticated and increasingly important area of transactional insurance.

For someone with strong credit risk experience who wants a more commercial, client-facing and entrepreneurial role, this is a compelling move.
