Compliance Manager

No working from home possible
I

We're working with a leading specialist insurance business seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Manager to join its second line of defence.

This is a senior, hands-on compliance role with broad exposure across the business and the opportunity to play a key part in maintaining and strengthening the firm's regulatory framework.

The opportunity

You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across Underwriting, Operations, Claims and Risk, providing practical compliance advice and effective challenge while helping ensure the business continues to meet its regulatory obligations.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Implementing and embedding the firm's Compliance Framework, policies and monitoring programme.
  • Delivering risk-based Compliance Monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of systems and controls.
  • Providing expert advice to the first line across conduct risk, financial crime, data protection and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring regulatory developments and helping ensure policies and procedures remain current.
  • Identifying, investigating and escalating regulatory breaches and compliance issues.
  • Supporting regulatory reporting and submissions.
  • Providing compliance input into new products, business processes and key decisions.
  • Preparing clear MI, risk assessments and compliance reporting for senior management and governance forums.
  • Supporting compliance committees and regulatory governance.
  • Providing oversight and challenge around Consumer Duty and conduct risk, including helping to embed requirements across the business.
  • Leading the investigation and management of serious or escalated complaints, including root-cause analysis and remediation.
  • Developing and delivering compliance training and helping build a strong, proactive compliance culture.
  • Representing Compliance at relevant governance forums and, where appropriate, on service company boards.

What we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced compliance professional with:

  • 7+ years' experience in compliance or regulatory advisory roles.
  • Strong experience within insurance, Lloyd's, the London Market or an MGA environment.
  • A strong understanding of the Lloyd's, PRA and FCA regulatory frameworks, alongside areas such as GDPR and conduct risk.
  • A good understanding of the responsibilities and regulatory expectations of a Lloyd's managing agency.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a genuine understanding of the London Market.
  • The ability to absorb complex situations quickly, assess risk and provide practical, credible solutions.
  • Excellent judgement and the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders where required.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A collaborative and ethical leadership style, with the ability to build trust across the business.
  • The resilience and adaptability to operate effectively in a fast-moving regulatory environment.

Why consider it?

This is an opportunity to take a high-impact second-line role within a specialist insurance environment, working across the business rather than operating purely as a technical compliance function.

You’ll have meaningful exposure to senior stakeholders, regulatory change, governance, conduct and risk - with the opportunity to influence how compliance is embedded across the organisation.
