Overview
New MGA Entrant | Backed | Low Risk | High Impact
Most underwriters are interested in MGA opportunities, but very few want to take the risk of joining something that’s underfunded, under-supported, or still “finding its feet”. This isn’t that.
I’m supporting a new MGA entrant that has already:
- Secured rated capacity
- Put full compliance, governance, finance and marketing infrastructure in place
- Been backed by an experienced MGU incubator
- Built a clear, credible underwriting strategy before hiring
This is an embryonic business, yes — but it’s a proper one. Low execution risk, high opportunity.
The opportunity
This is a remote UK role, with flexibility on location, focused on building regional Surety business with the backing of a London and international platform. You’ll be joining at the start — with no legacy book, no inherited problems, and genuine autonomy to shape the portfolio. The MGA is looking to expand its regional presence, and this hire will be central to that growth.
What you’ll be doing
- Building a profitable Construction & Commercial Surety book from day one
- Originating business through established broker relationships
- Underwriting UK regional Surety risks, with scope for more complex and international work
- Acting as a credible market face for the MGA as it launches and grows
This is a producer–underwriter role. You’ll be trusted to underwrite properly, not chase volume for the sake of it.
What they’re looking for
- Surety underwriting experience
- Strong UK regional Surety background
- Existing broker relationships and genuine production capability
- MGA or delegated authority experience is useful — not essential.
Why this is different
- Low-risk MGA entry: capacity secured, infrastructure built, funding in place
- Remote-first: location flexible across the UK
- Early-stage influence: you will help shape strategy, appetite and growth
- Backed, not hopeful: this isn’t someone “having a go”
In short
If you’ve ever thought: “I like the idea of an MGA… just not the risk” this is exactly the kind of opportunity worth looking at. Even if you’re just curious, it’s a sensible conversation to have.
