IDEX is seeking to appoint a highly experienced Financial Services professional as a Non-Executive Advisor to support the continued growth and evolution of its M&A offering within the UK Wealth Management and IFA market. This role is designed for a well-connected and commercially astute individual; likely a current or former IFA, business owner, or senior leader who can combine market insight, strategic thinking, and network access to help shape and scale a compelling buy-and-sell-side M&A proposition.

Alongside leveraging their network to originate high-quality opportunities, the successful individual will play a key role in refining IDEX’s go-to-market strategy, with a particular focus on building a market-leading sell-side advisory proposition for IFA business owners.

The Opportunity

You will act as both a strategic advisor and market ambassador for IDEX’s M&A team. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will contribute to the development of a differentiated, advice-led approach to M&A supporting IFA firms through the full lifecycle of their journey, from early-stage exit readiness and pre-sale value creation, through to exit planning and transaction execution. In parallel, you will leverage your relationships and credibility within the market to originate and support high-quality buy- and sell-side opportunities. This is a flexible, part-time role suited to someone looking to remain connected to the market, influence strategy, and monetise their network without the demands of a full-time executive commitment.

Strategic Contribution

  • Advise on the development and refinement of IDEX’s sell-side M&A proposition for UK IFAs
  • Provide input into go-to-market strategy, positioning, and messaging to ensure strong market resonance
  • Help shape a repeatable, advice-led client journey for business owners considering exit
  • Challenge and enhance the current M&A offering, identifying gaps, opportunities, and areas for differentiation
  • Contribute to the development of thought leadership and market engagement strategies targeting IFA principals

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage your network to identify and introduce potential buyers and vendors within the UK Financial Services market
  • Generate and refer qualified M&A opportunities to the IDEX team
  • Act as a credible and trusted voice in early-stage conversations with business owners
  • Support selected high-value or strategic client engagements, particularly on the sell-side
  • Provide ongoing market insight and intelligence to inform M&A strategy and execution
  • Support relationship development with key stakeholders where appropriate
  • Represent IDEX professionally within your network and the wider market

Ideal Background

  • Former or current IFA, Wealth Manager, or Financial Services business owner
  • Strong, active network across the UK Wealth Management / IFA space
  • Direct experience of buying, selling, or scaling a Financial Services business (highly desirable)
  • Deep understanding of valuation drivers, succession dynamics, and the buyer landscape
  • Commercially minded with a strong ability to identify and unlock opportunities
  • Credible, well-regarded, and relationship-driven, with the ability to engage senior business owners

Engagement Model

  • Flexible commitment (circa 2-4 days per month)
  • Ongoing collaboration with IDEX’s M&A leadership team
  • Involvement in periodic strategy and proposition discussions, alongside ad hoc input on live opportunities
  • Opportunity to contribute to key client situations where experience and credibility add value

What’s on Offer

  • Opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping a growing M&A advisory platform
  • Ability to monetise your network, insight, and experience
  • Access to a highly active and well-established M&A infrastructure
  • Collaborative partnership with an experienced and well-regarded team
  • Competitive, success-led remuneration with potential for broader commercial alignment

Why IDEX?

  • Strong reputation and momentum in the UK Financial Services market
  • Deep network of buyers and consistent deal flow
  • Professional, discreet, and highly experienced M&A capability
  • A modern, collaborative approach to growth, partnerships, and client engagement

This role is a great opportunity if you are looking to stay close to the market, influence direction, and participate in meaningful transactions without the demands of a full-time role.
