IDEX Consulting have been retained by a successful, long-standing Lloyd’s Coverholder MGA with a strong reputation in delivering high-quality solutions to niche areas of the market such as Motorsport, Entertainment and Leisure. We are spearheading the search for a Head of Specialty, a critical hire that will not only form a part of their succession planning but be responsible for growth as they turn the page to a new chapter.
This role will be a fantastic opportunity for an underwriting professional who is driven and passionate about Motorsport, Leisure or Entertainment markets, but perhaps feels that their ideas are stifled and their progression is limited. With fresh backing, the business is looking to enter a new phase of growth and this is an opportunity to put your stamp on what is already an extremely successful division.

About you
Crucially, what we’re looking for here is somebody with a background in niche, specialty lines such as Motorsport, Leisure or Entertainment. Knowledge of these markets will be the baseline for future planning and expansion of the division. Entrepreneurial flair and decisiveness are two traits that would benefit somebody stepping into this role. With growth on the agenda, we are looking for somebody who can lean on their experience to identify opportunities in the market.

- Developing and executing the underwriting strategy for the divisions, taking full ownership of their profitability and long-term growth.
- Defining and managing the underwriting risk appetite, creating a clear and effective framework for your teams to make smart, profitable decisions.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of underwriters, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
- Acting as a key voice and advocate for the business in the market, building and nurturing strong relationships with capacity providers, brokers, and industry bodies.
- Using your deep market insight to identify future trends, threats, and opportunities, helping to shape our overall product and pricing approach.
