The Opportunity
Our client is a highly profitable, entrepreneurial insurance business entering an exciting new phase of growth following a private equity-backed acquisition. With an established market-leading position and a strong management team already in place, the business has ambitious plans to significantly expand its market presence, diversify its product offering, and drive substantial EBITDA growth over the next three to five years.
As part of these plans, the business is seeking an experienced Head of SME to lead the development and execution of its SME insurance strategy. This is a high-profile leadership position offering the opportunity to build and scale a significant new revenue stream whilst playing a key role in the wider transformation of the business.
About the Business
The company has built a highly successful specialist insurance proposition and currently generates approximately £20m EBITDA. Backed by significant investment and an ambitious growth strategy, the business aims to more than triple profitability through a combination of organic growth, product diversification, technology innovation and strategic acquisitions.
A key element of this strategy is the expansion into the SME market, leveraging an existing customer base, strong brand recognition and a significant distribution platform to create a market-leading SME proposition.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Executive Leadership Team, the Head of SME will take ownership of developing, launching and scaling the SME division. Key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and executing the overall SME growth strategy.
- Building a scalable SME proposition that delivers profitable growth.
- Identifying and developing cross-selling opportunities across the existing customer base.
- Working closely with underwriting, distribution, operations, technology and marketing teams to drive successful delivery.
- Developing new products, propositions and routes to market.
- Identifying opportunities to improve customer acquisition, retention and lifetime value.
- Establishing key insurer, capacity and strategic partner relationships.
- Analysing market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements to inform business strategy.
- Building, leading and developing a high-performing SME team.
- Delivering agreed revenue, growth and profitability objectives.
- Supporting wider business transformation initiatives and acquisition activity where required.
