A leading international law firm is seeking a Financial Regulation Associate or Senior Associate to join its highly regarded Regulation, Insurance and Funds (RIF) team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the forefront of a rapidly evolving financial services landscape, advising on complex regulatory matters across traditional financial services, fintech, and digital assets. The team is known for its innovative approach, blending trusted advisory work with cutting-edge digital legal solutions.
You will advise a broad range of financial institutions and fintech businesses on UK financial services regulation, with a particular focus on FCA-regulated firms, investment management, payments, funds, and emerging technologies. The role offers high-quality work, direct client exposure, and the chance to help shape how legal services are delivered in a changing regulatory environment.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to take initiative, contribute to thought leadership, and play a visible role in business development, while being supported by an experienced and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities- Advising on UK financial services regulation, including FCA rules and guidance
- Supporting clients through regulatory journeys (authorisations, variations of permission, changes in control)
- Drafting client-facing documentation (e.g. ISAs, investment management agreements, Model B arrangements)
- Advising on funds regulation, including UCITS and AIFs
- Providing regulatory advice on payments, digital assets, cryptoassets and DLT-related products
- Keeping clients informed of fast-paced regulatory change and implementing solutions
- Advising on regulatory aspects of M&A and corporate transactions involving regulated firms
- Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to team development
- Supporting business development through articles, client events and cross-team collaboration
You will be a UK-qualified lawyer (or equivalent) with at least 4 yearsβ PQE, gained at a law firm, in-house, or within a regulator. You will have experience advising on many of the following:
- Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and secondary legislation
- FCA and PRA rulebooks (COBS, SYSC, SMCR, capital and client money rules)
- Payments Services Regulations and Electronic Money Regulations
- Financial promotions and product distribution
- Authorisation and ongoing regulatory compliance
- Cryptoassets, stablecoins and digital payments
- Transactions involving FCA/PRA regulated entities
You will be intellectually strong, commercially minded, and motivated by working in a progressive, collaborative environment.
