The Opportunity
We are currently working with a well-established and rapidly growing independent insurance group with a strong presence across the UK.
The business has built an excellent reputation within the commercial insurance market and combines the resources of a larger group with a strong focus on personal service and client relationships.
You will handling a broad range of commercial insurance claims and supporting clients throughout the claims journey.
Due to continued an imminent retirement they are looking to appoint an experienced Claims Handler to join their team.
The role is based around Kirkcaldy, although the business is open to candidates who are looking for a predominantly remote-working position.
This is particularly relevant for experienced claims professionals based elsewhere in Scotland who may not be able to commute to the office on a regular basis.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial insurance claims from notification through to resolution, providing a high-quality service to clients and working closely with insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors and other relevant parties.
The role will have a particular focus on motor liability claims, although experience across other areas of commercial claims will also be highly valued.
Property claims will form part of the portfolio, but this is not primarily a property claims position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance claims from first notification through to settlement.
- Handle predominantly motor liability claims, with exposure to a range of commercial risks.
- Deal with third parties, insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
- Assess claims circumstances, policy coverage and liability.
- Negotiate settlements where appropriate and ensure claims are progressed efficiently.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive claims records.
- Provide regular updates to clients and manage expectations throughout the claims journey.
- Identify potential coverage, liability or fraud issues and escalate where appropriate.
- Ensure claims are handled in accordance with regulatory, company and insurer requirements.
- Contribute to delivering an excellent client experience.
About You
We are looking for an experienced commercial claims professional who is confident managing their own caseload and can work effectively with a high degree of autonomy.
You will ideally have
- Previous experience within a commercial insurance claims environment.
- Strong experience handling motor liability claims.
- A good understanding of insurance policy coverage and liability.
- Experience dealing with insurers, loss adjusters and/or solicitors.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A client-focused approach.
- The ability to work independently in a remote environment while remaining an effective team player.
