UK (Location Flexible) | Home-Based with Regional Broker Travel

Do you know the high hazard market well enough that brokers call you before they call anyone else? We are exclusively partnering with a well-regarded, entrepreneurial MGU that is launching a High Hazard proposition and is looking for a Development Underwriter to play a key role in its success from day one. This isn't a maintenance underwriting role. It's an opportunity to build a portfolio, develop broker partnerships and become one of the recognised faces in the market behind a new proposition backed by significant underwriting expertise, strong insurer capacity and long-term investment.

The business operates at a high level, combining the agility of an MGA with the infrastructure, underwriting capability and financial strength of a much larger organisation.

  • Be part of a brand-new High Hazard proposition from day one
  • Significant underwriting authority with the autonomy to trade commercially
  • Build your own portfolio rather than simply maintaining an existing account
  • Work within an entrepreneurial MGU that values underwriting expertise over process
  • Well-funded platform with established infrastructure and long-term backing
  • Flexible location with a genuine UK-wide broker trading remit

The Role

  • Develop profitable new business across high hazard commercial risks
  • Build and strengthen relationships with UK retail insurance brokers
  • Underwrite and negotiate complex Property & Casualty risks across the key higher hazard trades
  • Become a recognised market presence for the business within your region
  • Play a key role in the successful launch and growth of the new underwriting proposition

What We're Looking For

  • Development Underwriting experience within the UK commercial insurance market
  • Strong experience underwriting higher hazard Property & Casualty risks
  • Existing broker relationships that can generate new business quickly
  • Commercially-minded trader who enjoys winning business rather than simply servicing it
  • Able to demonstrate a track record of profitable portfolio growth
  • Ambitious individual who wants to help build something rather than inherit it

If you currently operate as a specialist within the High Hazard space, but feel that your potential is limited by the constraints of your current platform, I welcome a confidential chat to discuss this opportunity further.
