IDEX Consulting are exclusively representing a Lloyd's syndicate in the appointment of a Product Governance & Conduct Risk Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for an insurance conduct professional to take full ownership of Product Governance, Conduct Risk and Consumer Duty within a growing Lloyd's business, with genuine scope to shape the framework, influence underwriting decisions and work directly with senior stakeholders across the organisation.

Working in the 1st line you'll operate at the heart of the business, partnering closely with Underwriters, Claims, Delegated Authority and senior leadership to ensure regulatory requirements are not simply implemented, but embedded effectively into the way the business operates.

This is a role for someone who wants to be close to the underwriting decision-making process, rather than sitting on the sidelines providing policy advice.

The opportunity

You'll haveend-to-end ownership of Product Governance and Consumer Duty, acting as the subject matter expert and trusted business partner across the syndicate.

A key part of the role will be translating regulatory change into practical, commercially sensible solutions working with Underwriters to understand the impact of new requirements, challenge where necessary and ensure products continue to deliver good customer outcomes throughout their lifecycle.

You'll have significant autonomy and visibility, with the opportunity to develop and mature the Product Governance and Conduct Risk framework as the business evolves.

Your remit will include:

  • Full ownership of the Product Governance Framework, ensuring it remains proportionate, effective and embedded across the business.
  • Acting as the key business partner to Underwriting, providing pragmatic 1st Line challenge across product design, distribution, pricing and customer outcomes.
  • Leading the implementation of Consumer Duty, ensuring the four outcomes are genuinely embedded across the product lifecycle.
  • Taking ownership of product approval, product reviews and event-driven reviews, working directly with Underwriters and other business stakeholders.
  • Leading target market assessments, distribution strategy and fair value assessments, challenging and supporting the business where appropriate.
  • Identifying and implementing regulatory change, translating FCA and Lloyd’s requirements into practical changes to products, processes and controls.
  • Developing and monitoring Conduct Risk appetite, tolerances, KRIs and MI, using data and insight to identify emerging risks and areas required action.
  • Owning the Product Oversight Group, bringing together Underwriting, Claims, Delegated Authority and other stakeholders to drive meaningful outcomes.
  • Providing the conduct perspective across Delegated Authority, including oversight of Coverholders, MGAs and TPAs.
  • Leading complaints governance, root cause analysis and remediation, ensuring customer insight feeds directly back into product governance.
  • Using conduct data, complaints and customer outcomes to identify systemic issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Preparing high-quality Consumer Duty, Product Governance and Conduct Risk reporting for senior management and the Board.
  • Supporting Lloyd’s oversight, FCA thematic reviews, regulatory enquiries and internal audit activity.
  • Developing and delivering practical conduct and Consumer Duty training across the underwriting and wider business.

What makes this opportunity particularly interesting is the level of interaction with the underwriting business.

You won't simply be reviewing policies or monitoring compliance from a distance. You'll be sitting alongside Underwriters and business leaders, understanding how products are designed and distributed, challenging decisions where necessary and helping the business navigate regulatory change without unnecessarily slowing it down.

You'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships across the syndicate and become the go-to person for Product Governance, Conduct Risk and Consumer Duty.
