If you're an experienced Commercial Account Handler in Essex and want to get your teeth into bigger, more complex corporate clients, this is definitely worth a look. I'm working with a highly respected, established independent insurance Broker that's looking to add an experienced Senior Account Handler to its corporate team.
The opportunity here is really about the quality and size of the clients you'll get exposure to. You'll be working alongside an experienced Senior Broker on a substantial portfolio generating over £1million in income with individual clients ranging from around £5,000 to £100,000 income in the main. At the top end, there is also exposure to significant corporate risks. One client alone has an annual insurance premium spend of more than £4million. The portfolio is genuinely varied, combining general corporate business with more complex clients and international insurance requirements, so there's plenty of scope to keep developing technically.
What will you be doing?
- Managing corporate renewals from preparation through to completion
- Broking risks and negotiating terms with insurers
- Reviewing coverage, terms and policy wordings
- Supporting the placement of complex and international insurance programmes
- Working closely with senior client-facing colleagues
- Liaising directly with clients, insurers and specialist markets
- Handling mid-term requirements and ongoing client queries
- Building strong insurer relationships and taking genuine ownership of your work
Who would this suit?
You might already be handling corporate clients and want access to larger, more technical risks, or you could be an experienced Commercial Account Handler who has built a strong grounding in the market and is ready to step up. You don't need to arrive having handled £4m premium clients already. What's important is that you're very technically capable, enjoy the broking side of insurance and have the appetite to keep learning.
Why consider it?
The culture is a big part of the attraction. It's an established business with the capability and insurer relationships to handle significant corporate clients, while retaining the personality and feel of an independent Broker. People are trusted to do their jobs, there's a collaborative approach across the team and good Account Handlers are genuinely valued. There's also real progression without the expectation that you have to move into sales. If technical broking is where your strengths lie, you can continue developing into larger clients, more complex placements and greater responsibility. If you eventually want to become more client-facing, that route is there too as is leadership. And importantly, you can get exposure to this calibre of corporate work without having to commute into London every day.
If you're an Account Handler in Chelmsford, Essex or the surrounding areas and feel ready to get your teeth into bigger clients, I'd love to have a confidential conversation. You don't need to be actively looking. Sometimes it's just worth knowing what's out there.
