A specialist insurance business is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to play a key role in the continued growth of its proposition. This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys being out in the market, meeting people, building relationships and creating opportunities. We're not looking for someone who simply manages a pipeline from behind a desk. We're looking for a proper networker, someone who is well connected within the insolvency, restructuring and professional services community and knows how to turn relationships into long-term commercial opportunities.

You'll become a key representative of the business in the market, developing existing relationships while continuously expanding your network and opening new doors.

The Role

  • Develop and deliver a proactive business development strategy across the insolvency and professional services market.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key introducers, clients and professional contacts.
  • Spend significant time out in the market, attending meetings, networking events, conferences and industry functions.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through both your existing network and new relationships.
  • Build relationships with insolvency practitioners, restructuring professionals, accountants, lawyers and other relevant professional advisers.
  • Work closely with the internal team to turn introductions and relationships into new business.
  • Maintain regular contact with key relationships and ensure the business remains front of mind.
  • Represent the business at relevant industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the insolvency insurance market and identify opportunities within it.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maximise opportunities and strengthen relationships.
  • Manage business development activity and opportunities.

What We're Looking For

Above all, we're looking for someone who is well connected, commercially minded and naturally good with people. You'll ideally have:

  • An established networker.
  • A proven track record in business development, sales or relationship management.
  • The confidence to build relationships with senior decision-makers.
  • A genuine passion for networking and meeting people.
  • The ability to turn relationships and conversations into commercial opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial approach.
  • The confidence to represent the business at industry events and in front of senior professionals.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to spot opportunities.
  • The drive and resilience to build relationships and develop business over the long term.

The Person

This role will suit someone who is naturally curious, sociable and highly relationship-driven. You'll be the type of person who is happy picking up the phone, arranging a coffee, booking a lunch or attending an industry event because you understand that good business development starts with relationships. You may already have an established network within insolvency or restructuring, or you could come from a closely aligned professional services or insurance background where relationships, referrals and introductions are central to your success. What's important is that you're credible in the market, confident in front of people and genuinely enjoy networking. This isn't a role for someone waiting for opportunities to come to them. It's for someone who will get out there, open doors and build the market around them.

The Opportunity

You'll be joining an established specialist insurance proposition with the backing and resources of a wider organisation, while having the autonomy to develop your own relationships and opportunities. If you're someone who knows how to network, enjoys being in the room and has the relationships to make things happen, we'd like to hear from you.
