We are working with an established, family-owned logistics business to recruit an experienced Air & Sea Freight Assistant for its busy team. This is a varied, office-based role managing air and sea freight movements from the initial booking through to final delivery. You’ll work closely with customers, shipping lines and overseas agents to ensure shipments are handled accurately and efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating import and export job files
- Arranging container and freight bookings with shipping lines and agents
- Tracking shipments and keeping customers updated
- Arranging import and export customs clearances
- Preparing import and export documentation
- Charging customers in line with agreed rates and quotations
- Checking and processing supplier invoices
- Liaising with customers, overseas partners and freight agents
- Maintaining accurate information on the freight-management system
- Supporting colleagues and providing general administrative cover when required
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience within logistics, shipping, freight forwarding or customs
- Good IT, literacy and numeracy skills
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- The ability to organise and prioritise a busy workload
- A confident, friendly and professional telephone manner
- The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Customs-clearance experience would be advantageous
