Job Summary

We are currently representing a Supply Chain Manager opportunity on behalf of our client who are a growing food manufacturing business based in Hull with ambitious plans for continued growth. They are looking to appoint an experienced, hands-on Supply Chain Manager with a strong focus on:

  • Production & capacity planning
  • Raw materials and packaging procurement
  • On-site logistics and warehousing, plus 3PL management
  • End-to-end order management and distributor relationships
  • Leading change and people performance in a pressured logistics environment

Main Duties

  • Lead end-to-end production and capacity planning, translating forecasts into executable schedules and maintaining robust Excel/Sage-based tools.
  • Own raw materials and packaging procurement, managing stock policies, supplier performance and cost/value initiatives.
  • Oversee inbound/outbound logistics and on-site warehousing, developing the Logistics Supervisor and team while ensuring layouts and flows support factory changes.
  • Manage the 3PL relationship for finished goods, monitoring service, cost and performance, and leading projects for additional local storage and call-off processes.
  • Own order management and distributor relationships, ensuring smooth communication, strong OTIF and reliable delivery performance.
  • Drive data-led improvement, using advanced Excel to analyse performance, strengthen forecasting, support scenario planning and prepare for future systems development.
  • Collaborate across Operations, Commercial, Finance, Technical and HR, ensuring compliance with food safety/quality standards and potentially expanding remit to the sister site over time.

Person Specification

  • Strong supply chain background in food manufacturing or high-volume FMCG, with proven ownership of planning, purchasing and logistics.
  • Demonstrable experience managing production/capacity planning, raw materials and packaging purchasing, and warehouse/logistics operations with team leadership.
  • Highly analytical with advanced Excel capability and strong ERP/stock system experience (ideally Sage), using systems primarily as data sources.
  • Hands-on supply chain leader with strong people management, change leadership, commercial awareness and cross-functional influence.
  • Clear, confident communicator able to present data effectively and drive alignment in a fast-paced, change-driven manufacturing setting.
