Hybrid (Milton Keynes - 1 day per week) £65,000 - £80,000 base + 50% bonus. We're working with a fast-growing, well-funded SaaS business in the HR / employee engagement space, looking to hire a founding Strategic Account Manager to help shape and scale their account management function.

This is a high-impact, first-of-its-kind role within the business - ideal for someone who wants to move beyond "managing accounts" and instead own strategy, drive growth, and build a best-in-class function from the ground up.

The Opportunity

This role sits at the intersection of sales and customer success - focused on growing and retaining key accounts, rather than new business. You'll take ownership of a portfolio of 20-30 strategic, mid-market to enterprise clients, working closely with HR and C-suite stakeholders to:

  • Drive renewals and long-term retention
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities
  • Lead land-and-expand strategies across divisions, regions, and business units

Alongside this, you'll play a key role internally - helping to:

  • Define what "great" account management looks like
  • Build playbooks, frameworks, and best practices
  • Upskill the wider team and embed a more commercial, strategic approach to account growth

This is a genuine chance to shape the future of the function, not just execute within it.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own a portfolio of 20-30 high-value strategic accounts, with full responsibility for growth and retention
  • Build deep, multi-threaded relationships with HR leaders and senior stakeholders
  • Lead renewal and expansion conversations, ensuring long-term value and partnership
  • Identify and drive upsell, cross-sell, and expansion opportunities across existing clients
  • Develop and execute account plans aligned to client strategy and business objectives
  • Translate platform data and insights into clear, compelling commercial narratives
  • Run Executive Business Reviews focused on outcomes, not just reporting
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Customer Success to drive value
  • Help build and embed a scalable account management playbook across the business

What They're Looking For

This is where the role is genuinely niche - they need someone who can balance commercial drive with relationship depth. You're likely to have:

  • 5+ years in Account Management, Customer Success, or Strategic Accounts within SaaS / HR tech
  • A proven track record of growing existing accounts (renewals, upsell, expansion)
  • Experience managing mid-market or enterprise clients
  • Strong exposure to HR stakeholders (HRD, People Director, etc.)
  • Confidence engaging and influencing senior / executive stakeholders

And importantly, you are:

  • Commercially minded - always looking for growth opportunities within accounts
  • Consultative and strategic - able to understand business challenges, not just sell features
  • Credible and relationship-led - able to build trust at senior levels
  • Comfortable in a scale-up environment - fast-paced, evolving, and not overly structured

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Founding hire - shape the account management function from day one
  • Clear ownership of strategic accounts and revenue growth
  • Opportunity to influence process, playbooks, and team capability
  • Work closely with senior leadership, including the VP of Sales
  • Strong product-market fit in a high-growth HR tech space

The Setup

  • Hybrid: 1 day per week in Milton Keynes + regular client travel
  • Salary: £65K - £80K base + 50% variable
