The Opportunity

We are recruiting an experienced Senior Planner to join a leading UK construction and infrastructure organisation delivering a major nuclear energy programme in Suffolk.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in one of the UK's most significant infrastructure developments, supporting the construction of a new nuclear power station and associated infrastructure.

Working within an established Nuclear and Infrastructure team, you will take ownership of project planning, programme development, progress monitoring and project controls, ensuring complex construction activities are delivered against agreed contractual milestones.

The initial assignment will focus on a major nuclear project, with opportunities to contribute to further nuclear and infrastructure programmes.

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Planner, you will lead planning and programme controls activities across complex civil engineering and construction work packages.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Primavera P6 Planning: Develop, manage and maintain fully integrated master programmes, construction schedules and phase sequence plans.
  • NEC Contract Planning: Produce and maintain contract-compliant programmes, programme updates, impact assessments and supporting narratives.
  • Project Controls: Monitor progress, analyse critical paths, assess programme risks and produce accurate forecasts and management reports.
  • Construction Sequencing: Work closely with site delivery teams to develop realistic construction methodologies, particularly involving reinforced concrete structures.
  • Resource Management: Undertake resource loading, levelling and forecasting across labour, plant and materials.
  • Commercial Support: Collaborate with commercial teams on programme impacts, change management, compensation events and forecasting.
  • Performance Reporting: Develop programme dashboards, earned value reporting and progress analysis using P6, Power BI and associated reporting tools.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage directly with clients, project managers, engineers, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Collaborative Planning: Facilitate short-term planning, weekly lookaheads and programme reviews to support delivery teams.

Experience We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years' construction planning experience, ideally gained on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Primavera P6, including programme development, resource loading, progress monitoring and critical path analysis.
  • Strong experience of NEC contracts and the associated programme management requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of reinforced concrete frame construction, construction sequencing and associated methodologies.
  • Experience developing and maintaining integrated construction programmes.
  • Good understanding of construction productivity, resource requirements and typical production rates.
  • Experience working directly with clients, contractors, commercial teams and operational delivery teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous experience on nuclear, energy, major infrastructure or other highly regulated construction projects.
  • Civil Engineering qualification (HND, degree or equivalent experience).
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution, such as CIOB or ICE.
  • Experience with Power BI, earned value management and project controls dashboards.
  • Previous involvement in tender planning, programme risk analysis and bid development.

  • Contribute to one of the UK's largest and most strategically important energy infrastructure programmes.
  • Work on technically challenging construction activities within a highly regulated environment.
  • Join an established organisation with a substantial pipeline of nuclear and infrastructure projects.
  • Gain exposure to complex NEC contractual arrangements and advanced project controls.
  • Benefit from hybrid working arrangements and some flexibility around working hours.
  • Access long-term career development opportunities within the UK nuclear and infrastructure sector.
