Senior Cloud Architect & DevOps Engineer

We’re looking for a hands‑on Senior Cloud Architect & DevOps Engineer with active SC Clearance (DV welcomed) to join a mission‑critical programme in a secure, high‑assurance environment.

This role is for someone who can design, build and deliver — not just produce architecture diagrams. You’ll combine cloud architecture, on‑prem engineering and DevOps capability to create robust, secure and scalable solutions across hybrid infrastructures.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design scalable, secure enterprise architectures across hybrid infrastructure
• Deliver hands‑on engineering across on‑prem, cloud and containerised ecosystems
• Configure and secure foundational infrastructure, including networking, identity/access controls, platform hardening and cross‑environment integration
• Own and evolve DevOps pipelines, applying CI/CD, IaC and automation best‑practice
• Work across enterprise tooling and platforms to support development, operations, data and governance requirements
• Lead architecture assurance, technical governance and solution decision‑making
• Guide engineering teams and DevOps squads, ensuring high‑quality technical delivery
• Engage senior stakeholders across secure public sector programmes
• Mentor technical teams and champion engineering best practice

What You Bring

A strong blend of architecture, cloud engineering and DevOps experience — with the confidence to lead from the front while remaining hands‑on.

Technical Strengths We’re Keen to See

• Deep understanding of on‑prem infrastructure, including VMware and secure/air‑gapped environments
• Cloud expertise across Azure, AWS or GCP
• Strong experience with Kubernetes platforms (AKS, OpenShift or upstream Kubernetes, Google Kubernetes Engine, GKE)
• Solid grounding in automation, IaC, CI/CD, orchestration and pipeline tooling
• Experience with service mesh, observability and monitoring (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)
• Knowledge of Zero‑Trust architectures, landing zones, governance, tagging and cost optimisation
• Experience with event‑driven architecture and modern integration patterns
• Identity and Access Management (IAM) and similar DevOps practices

Leadership & Delivery

• Able to lead multi‑site engineering teams and DevOps squads
• Proven track record delivering complex, secure and technically demanding solutions
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present to mixed technical audiences
• Skilled stakeholder manager, comfortable influencing at senior levels

Clearance

• Active SC Clearance required
• DV Clearance highly desirable
