Lead a National-Scale Cloud Transformation. Are you a cloud migration expert ready to make a meaningful impact on healthcare IT for over 100,000 users across NHS? NHS is delivering one of the UK’s most ambitious digital transformations. Migrating 80+ critical services from 1,600 on-prem servers to Azure and Google Cloud—and we need a Principal Cloud Architect to drive the programme. This isn’t a simple lift-and-shift. Modernising platforms, introducing open-source technologies, and reshaping service delivery with a cloud-native, automation-first mindset. You’ll work hand-in-hand with a Cloud Infrastructure Architect and Security Specialist to lead this evolution.
What You'll Do:
- Define and develop complex architectural solutions, strategy, and roadmaps.
- Develop reusable cloud migration patterns to enable rapid, secure product deployments.
- Lead engagement across internal teams, suppliers, and technical stakeholders.
- Deliver robust, cost-effective cloud architectures with strong governance.
- Promote DevSecOps, IaC, self-service, and open-source adoption.
- Guide teams across infrastructure, operations, and FinOps to optimise cloud performance.
- Help shape the long-term digital strategy of NHS Wales.
Ideal Experience:
- Deep experience in cloud transformation in large-scale or healthcare/public sector environments.
- Strong knowledge of Azure, GCP or AWS and modern cloud-native stacks.
- Skilled in DevSecOps, automation, open-source integration, and architectural governance.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional delivery in complex, high-profile programmes.
What do you need to be successful?
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
- TOGAF certified.
- CITP / FEDIP registration.
- Knowledge of NHS or healthcare systems.
- ITIL 4, Agile, or clinical risk management experience.
