Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for the production supervision of assigned department and team members.
- Review team assignments in the form of schedules and output targets and determine how to use resources to meet demand.
- Support an environment of continuous improvement to production processes that result in advances in safety, quality, delivery, productivity and reduced costs.
- Support production employees in continual improvement by acting as a resource in applying and ultimately teaching problem-solving skills and meeting facilitation skills by using established management control and production communication tools.
- Identifies daily production challenges and finds solutions to prevent reoccurrence and meet production schedules.
- Serves as a link between associates and management and supports associates through changes.
- Assists in developing and monitoring standardized work for direct reports.
- Audits or assigns audit duties for key result areas.
- Holds daily cell meetings and sets expectations for the day.
- Monitors production status hourly, removes bottlenecks and takes corrective measures to ensure daily goals are met.
- Oversees continuous flow and materials delivery systems and works with associates to continuously improve the process.
- Reviews production schedules and estimates associate hours to complete a job assignment.
- Interprets specifications and job orders for associates and delegates duties.
- Recommends measures and changes to improve production, equipment, product quality and working conditions.
- Initiates and/or suggests plans to motivate and enforce safety rules.
- Designs and implements a plan to provide cross-training to production employees that maximises their value to the team.
- Supports Lean lines in collaborative, autonomous decision making to facilitate the team’s self-directed improvements.
- Supports the daily activities of the production lines according to the team’s production schedule and applies the necessary adjustments when needed according to current issues.
- Supervises production employees according to company policies including attendance, e-time, security, safety, corrective action, performance appraisals, etc.
- Collaborates with production manager on production goal setting.
- Supports the production team’s daily activities in accordance to our defined ISO procedures and modifies these procedures based on process improvement made by the production teams.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role managing production processes and hourly employees.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Proven decision-making capability.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to inspire and motivate associates.
- Root cause analysis, problem identification, and resolution skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop new methods and/or processes.
- Ability to distinguish visual defects (created or received into production processes).
