The University of Oxford is seeking a medically qualified, internationally distinguished academic and clinical leader for the inaugural Dr Sadok Besrour Professor of Global Primary Health Care .

Based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences , the Professor will establish and direct the new Besrour Centre for Global Primary Care, advancing research, education , policy engagement, international partnerships, and primary care capacity building, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

The Professor will be expected to

Education

  • Provide strategic leadership for research, education, policy engagement, and capacity building in global primary care.
  • Develop an ambitious program of global primary care research.

  • Establish and lead the Besrour Centre for Global Primary Care.
  • Develop a global community of practice.
  • Support scholarship programs for Besrour Fellows.
  • Lead international forums, conferences, research initiatives, and advocacy activities.
  • Strengthen primary care systems and capacity globally, with particular attention to low- and middle-income countries.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the Medical Sciences Division and the wider University.
  • Contribute to Oxford’s priorities in global health and health systems strengthening.
  • Contribute to departmental research leadership and strategy.
  • Play a leading role in the Global Primary Health Care research theme.
  • Support the DPhil program and supervise graduate students.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
