The University of Essex School of Life Sciences is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral researcher to undertake genome annotation and comparative genomics as part of a NERC-funded investigation into skeletal development in corals.


Applicants should have a relevant PhD, equivalent professional experience, or be close to completing a PhD in genomics, computer science , bioinformatics, or a related subject, with experience in large-scale computational workflows, genome assembly, and comparative genomics.

Location / Study Destination

United Kingdom, Colchester, with hybrid working.


Who Can Apply


  • Applicants with a relevant doctoral-level PhD in Genomics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related subject.

  • Applicants with equivalent professional experience or practice may also be considered.

  • Candidates who are close to completing a PhD in a relevant subject are eligible.

  • Applicants should be able to plan and work independently.
