We’re seeking a compassionate Independence and Wellbeing Officer to provide one-to-one, strengths-based support to parents with learning disabilities, helping them build confidence and independence. You’ll work in partnership with an Advocacy Practitioner from a partner organisation, internal colleagues, and alongside Sandwell Advocacy and Communities in Sync as the funder, to deliver coordinated support tailored to each family’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred, one-to-one support in homes, community settings, or online, tailored to each parent’s needs.
  • Strengthen parenting skills, confidence, and resilience through practical guidance and positive role-modelling.
  • Develop and review personalised action plans, setting goals and tracking progress.
  • Promote health and wellbeing and help create safe, nurturing home environments.
  • Support multi-agency working, linking families with professionals and local services.
  • Complete assessments and safeguarding duties in line with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting, partnership working, and service improvement.
