Nature of the Job Role
The role will begin with building a positive and trusting relationship with the employer.
The Personal Assistant will provide support with
- Supporting the employer to have regular breaks so that the PA can provide care and support.
- Assisting with moving and handling, including helping the employer in and out of their wheelchair and bed.
- Bringing and preparing food when required.
- Reminding the employer to take medication.
- Applying heat pads or cold packs when required.
- Supporting with phone calls and emails.
- Cooking and preparing meals.
- Keeping the home clean and tidy for the employer.
- Personal Duties
- Hair washing.
- Feeding the cats.
- Being aware that the employer may sometimes experience meltdowns and providing appropriate support when this happens.
- Domestic Duties
- Cleaning the toilet.
- Cleaning stains when Mum is not around.
- Understanding and supporting the employer with their autism.
- Maintaining a clean and safe home environment.
- Social Duties
- Taking the employer out of the apartment using their wheelchair or car when necessary, including going for walks or taking them out in the car.
- Supporting the employer with shopping, including where digestive issues need to be considered.
