Role Purpose

Mazlan is Ideagen’s intelligent workspace, a single AI layer that runs across our products and changes how professionals in regulated industries work. As an AI Experience Engineer, you will shape the interface people use every day, the workspace where they work with AI agents, review outputs, and complete complex tasks with confidence. This is a frontend‑focused role where AI, product, and design come together and strong delivery matters as much as technical depth.

Location: Ruddington, Nottinghamshire

Level: Professional

Department: Product R&D

Benefits: Benefits at Ideagen.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and building the core Mazlan workspace UI, a persistent and session‑aware environment where users interact with AI agents and guided workflows
  • Creating real‑time interaction patterns such as streaming responses, live agent status, multi‑step reasoning visibility, and clear agent handovers
  • Developing rich and structured output components that turn AI results into clear and actionable recommendations for regulated environments
  • Integrating closely with the orchestration platform by consuming streaming events, session context, confidence signals, and agent feedback
  • Managing complex frontend state so users keep their context even during long‑running or multi‑stage tasks
  • Building feedback and correction mechanisms that let users confirm, challenge, or redirect AI responses in a structured way
  • Owning frontend performance and reliability by designing effective loading states, optimistic updates, and graceful error handling

Skills & Experience

  • You are a mid to senior frontend engineer with experience delivering production‑grade web applications used by real customers
  • You work confidently with React and TypeScript and care about architecture, readability, performance, and long‑term maintainability
  • You have hands‑on experience building real‑time or streaming interfaces and keeping UIs responsive during asynchronous activity
  • You are comfortable integrating with complex backends using REST, WebSockets, or SSE, and collaborating to shape APIs that support great user experiences
  • You have strong design instincts and can turn product intent into interaction patterns without relying on heavily detailed specifications
  • You actively use AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar to prototype quickly and iterate at speed
  • You enjoy working cross‑functionally and collaborating closely with product and AI engineering teams
  • Experience with AI‑powered interfaces, design systems, or regulated software is beneficial, but curiosity and craft matter most

How to prepare for a job interview at Ideagen

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Ideagen uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
