This is a posting for new vacancy. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the HR Assistant - Operations is responsible for supporting human resource functions that focus on employee development and HR management activities, including:
- Compensation and benefit plan administration
- Performance management
- Employee relations
- Maintaining all aspects of personnel records management
The HR Assistant - Operations also provides administrative support for the Manager, Human Resources while maintaining a high regard for confidentiality.
What You’ll Do
- Responsibility for program/service delivery (internal/external), coordination of staff
- Support day to day HR operations
- Support initiatives related to employee recognition, wellness programs, and team-building activities
- Manage the distribution and tracking of probationary and performance reviews
- Assist with claims management, including STD, LTD, WSIB and the Early and Safe Return to Work Program
- Assist the Manager, Human Resources with the administration of the benefit plans and OMERS pension program
- Provide administrative support to the Manager, Human Resources
- Assist with providing information and answering questions regarding general human resources matters and the application of human resources policies and procedures to employees and leaders
- Coordinate the flow of information internally and with other departments
- Ensure proper recording, retention, storage and/or disposition of all documents (digital and electronic/physical) received, in accordance with established policies and procedural guidelines
- Provide support for HR programs and special projects
- As required, assist with the full cycle recruitment process, including job postings, screening candidates, interviewing, making hiring recommendations, reference checks, preparing offers and onboarding new hires
- As required, participate in HR cross-functional activities
- Project management (planning, producing, implementation, monitoring, reporting)
- Assist with the preparation of HR reports, metrics, and benchmarking data to support informed decision-making
- Support with auditing HR systems, and HR data
- Prepare reports and identify discrepancies
- Requirement to adapt, modify, procedures, programs or inform policy development
- Make recommendations leading to the development of policies and procedures
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies, procedures, and compliance-related documentation
- Other duties as required including, but not limited to: occasional interactions with the public (directional and general inquiries)
What You Bring
- Required – Post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent
- Preferred – CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset
- Required – One (1) year previous experience working in Human Resources
- Required – One (1) year previous experience working in an administrative capacity, preferably in Human Resources
- Required – Demonstrated advanced proficiency with task-specific software (Microsoft 365/Office and virtual meeting software)
- Required – Police Criminal Record Check and Judicial Matters Check
- Required – Valid G-Class Driver’s license and access to vehicle
- Preferred – One (1) year previous experience with payroll, benefits administration, human resources information systems (HRIS), and OMERS pension
- Required - Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Required - Ability to review legislative documents relating to employment standards and human rights
- Required - Ability to learn organizational databases, content management systems and other software as needed (e.g., ADP)
- Required - Exercises discretion and professional integrity in all matters involving confidential or sensitive information
- Required - Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Required - Ability to handle changes in priorities, work on diverse tasks, and adapt to evolving organizational needs
- Required - Self-directed, well-organized and proactive individual
- Required - Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
- Required - Knowledge of relevant employment legislation including Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Employment Standards Act (ESA) and Human Rights

Salary: $35.78 per hour (Level 8 in our salary grid)
Hours: This is a part-time permanent position, 21 hours in a weekly period
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday dayshift. Hours and days to be determined. You may be required to work additional hours or to adjust your schedule to fulfil your responsibilities related to organizational needs occurring outside of the regular work week.
