A GP post for someone passionate about what general practice can be. We would rather be honest. General practice is hard. The workload is real. The system is under pressure. But we also believe that the right practice, the right team and the right way of working can still make general practice rewarding, sustainable and professionally satisfying.

At Ide Lane Surgery, we are looking for a 4-session salaried GP to work all day Wednesday and all day Friday. We are an independent, partner-led practice in Alphington, Exeter, caring for approximately 9,000 patients. We value continuity, personalised care and proper relationships with patients. Our GPs have personal lists, our patients know who their usual doctor is, and we think that still matters.

What makes this role different?

  • Real continuity: Our personalised lists mean GPs get to know their patients over time. That brings better care, more meaningful consultations and fewer “starting from scratch” conversations.
  • A sustainable working day: We do not operate a duty doctor system. We have supportive daily routines, including a morning huddle and twice-daily coffee break meetings for doctors.
  • A team that talks to each other: Clinical and administrative staff work closely together. Our care navigators, nurses, HCAs, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, physiotherapists and GPs are all part of the same team.
  • Innovation that actually helps: We are interested in technology, workflow and service improvement, but only when it makes life better for patients and staff. We are not interested in change for the sake of it.
  • A future worth building: We are working towards opening a brand-new surgery in the growing Matford development, creating an exciting and secure future for primary care in our community.
