About The Role
National research shows that healthcare professionals in England report high rates of domestic abuse with serious personal and work impacts. Nationally, nurses are three times more likely to experience domestic abuse than the average person.
In This Role, You Will
- Lead the delivery of the CARE Project: Culture, Awareness, Response, Empowerment – Transforming the NHS’s approach to supporting employees affected by domestic abuse across Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
- Manage a team to deliver high‑quality support, advice and information to people experiencing or having experienced domestic abuse, enhancing their safety and aiding recovery.
- Build positive relationships with health professionals in leadership and positions of power, including managers, team leaders, HR, Occupational Health and safeguarding managers, to improve policies and processes, encourage early disclosure, and ensure teams recognise domestic abuse, support staff, and refer to IDAS services.
- Develop programmes of domestic abuse training for healthcare professionals and wellbeing practitioners to break down barriers to support and create a zero‑tolerance culture.
- Continuously evaluate the project to measure its impact, using a variety of methods, and create a desirable, scalable model for wider NHS adoption.
- Hold a small caseload of high‑risk clients, offering practical and emotional support.
- Oversee case allocation, staff rotas, and performance management.
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are addressed and services are delivered in line with IDAS policies.
- Liaise with external agencies including police, legal services, housing and health professionals.
- Represent IDAS at MARAC, case conferences, and multi‑agency meetings.
- Deliver and oversee group programmes for clients.
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion by ensuring services are accessible and responsive to all communities, including those who are underrepresented or marginalised.
