ID Medical Insourcing is seeking experienced Ophthalmic Theatre Nurses to support high-volume insourcing lists across NHS and independent sector hospitals.

  • Band 5 Ward Nurse
  • Band 5 Theatre Nurse
  • Band 6 Nurse in Charge

Requirements:

  • NMC Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing
  • Ophthalmic qualification/evidence of specialist training
  • Theatre experience (ophthalmic preferred)
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to new sites

Role Overview

  • Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care during insourced ophthalmic surgical lists.
  • Work flexibly as a scrub nurse, circulating nurse, or anaesthetic support nurse as required.
  • Prepare and check ophthalmic theatre equipment, instruments, implants (including IOLs), and consumables in line with the surgical list.
  • Support procedures performed under local, regional, or general anaesthesia.
  • Undertake pre-operative safety checks, including patient identity, consent, laterality, and IOL verification.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in line with host trust and insourcing company requirements.
  • Participate in post-operative handover and patient monitoring where required.
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centred care, ensuring reassurance and clear communication throughout the surgical pathway.
  • Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Act professionally as a representative of the insourcing company when working on client sites.
