The Business Assurance (BA) Department are looking for a Health and Safety Support Manager to join our Health and Safety Team. To apply you must be within easy reach of travelling to Gatwick airport and associated sites. On occasions you may be asked to attend other sites. You will report to the Health & Safety Manager.

Visits, Staff Engagement, Health & Safety Checks & Reporting

The post holder is responsible for supporting Health & Safety activity across their assigned area through regular site engagement, monitoring, reporting, and coordination with site management and the Health & Safety Manager.

Accident Monitoring & Investigation Support

  • Monitor accidents on a daily basis, ensuring all incidents are accurately recorded and maintained within the agreed tracking spreadsheet.
  • Maintain individual accident files for employees involved in incidents.
  • Liaise with site or station management to clarify causes of accidents where details are unclear or incomplete.
  • Follow up with stations/assignments on the status of accident investigations, including obtaining lost time details, fit notes, and supporting information.
  • Escalate and provide full accident information to the Health & Safety Manager, particularly where incidents may progress to a claim.
  • Gather and collate accident-related data and supporting documentation for onward submission to the Health & Safety Manager.

Risk Assessments & Safety Monitoring

  • Review risk assessments to ensure they remain current, identifying those due for review or requiring updates.
  • Radiation risk assessments and associated duties.
  • Oversee drugs and alcohol process on stations.
  • Complete new and revised risk assessments across the area of responsibility as required.
  • Respond to ad-hoc risk assessment requests as directed by the Health & Safety Manager.
  • Collate Health & Safety observation reports received from stations and assignments.

Training & Engagement

  • Allocate and coordinate Health & Safety training through the T100 system, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for Safety Champions, supporting their set-up, engagement, and training.
  • Support and promote a positive safety culture through regular staff engagement and visibility across sites.

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collate all accident data on a monthly basis and submit reports to the M&S Manager for onward distribution to relevant stakeholders.
  • Attend and support client safety culture meetings alongside site management teams, providing Health & Safety input as required.

Annual & Ad-Hoc Responsibilities

  • Arrange and coordinate external fire risk assessments for Head Office and Shared Premises.
  • Issue safety alerts and briefings as required, including weather-related safety alerts, in coordination with the Health & Safety Manager.
  • Undertake additional Health & Safety-related tasks as required to support operational and compliance needs.

Person Specification

  • Nebosh qualified or working towards the qualification.
  • Must have experience of working in a H&S position, with a genuine interest in H&S.
  • Professional approach, coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, using all platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full driving license.
  • Own transportation is essential.
  • Neat and tidy appearance.
  • Resided in UK for 3+ years.
