In this high-profile Security Officer role, you'll ensure the safety and security of the people and property at a prestigious financial client's site in the centre of Edinburgh. You will be a candidate who reflects the highest of professional standards, focus, and customer service. You must have current SIA credentials and a minimum of the Emergency First Aid at Work (inc. AED) qualification.
You will need to be an experienced Security Officer: able to evidence your skills at a face-to-face interview: with confidence, enthusiasm, and eloquence. This is a permanent role within ICTS. Your rota will vary, from month-to-month. It will generally be published a few weeks in advance, covering standard daily gaps, annual leave, and other planned absences. Each month, there may be further opportunities to cover additional shifts at shorter notice. Shifts are normally 12 hours' duration, starting at 7am or 7pm: across any of the 7 days: including Public Holidays. As such, it would be beneficial to live within easy commuting distance of the site: or indicate on your application CV that you are relocating.
You will carry out a range of duties including:
- Managing access control for buildings and car-parks - for employees, visitors and contractors
- Patrolling the buildings, car parks and grounds to deter and detect problems
- Responding to customer requests and queries
- Checking and challenging ID passes with a professional, friendly, and problem-solving approach
- Unlocking and locking buildings, rooms, external barriers and gates to ensure that no unauthorised personnel or hazards are on site
- Identifying and reporting Health & Safety issues and carrying out First Aid if necessary
- Maintaining records including incident reports using computer and paper-based systems
- Being observant to the threat of hostile actors or situations; and be knowledgeable about the processes, policies and personal response expected, when such incidents occur
- Responding to Critical Incidents such as Fire Evacuation, Medical Emergency, Building Lockdown, etc.
- Completing regular training and knowledge-checks, to maintain Continuous Professional Development
Substantial experience as a Corporate Security Officer is essential, and to succeed in this role you will also need to evidence at interview:
- Excellent verbal, written, and numeracy skills: which will be tested at interview stage
- Strong customer service, team working, and collaboration skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- The ability to deliver succinct and clear verbal and written reports
- Competent IT and administration skills including MS Outlook, Word & Excel
- Professional appearance and demeanour
- Willingness to undertake development training, for example, to attend and pass the 3-day, First Aid at Work course
- An SIA Door Supervision (DS) or Security Guarding (SG) licence
- Five years' checkable history and references
- To pass a Criminal Records Check (CRC) to the required standards
- Proof of Right to Work in the UK
