We are seeking a dedicated and environmentally conscious individual to join our team as a Litter Picker. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in designated public areas, contributing to a safer and more attractive community environment. The position offers an opportunity to work outdoors, promote sustainability, and engage with the local community. This is a temporary position for at least 2 months but could be made permanent. Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am-2pm; overtime could be available. Rate of pay is £12.21 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Collect litter and waste from streets, parks, and public spaces using appropriate tools and safety equipment.
- Dispose of collected waste responsibly in designated bins or disposal sites.
- Monitor assigned areas regularly to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Report any hazards or maintenance issues encountered during patrols to the relevant authorities.
- Assist with organising community clean-up events when required.
- Engage courteously with members of the public, providing information if needed and promoting environmental awareness.
Skills
- Good command of English, both spoken and written, for effective communication with team members and the public.
- Excellent communication skills to interact politely with community members and colleagues.
- Customer service orientation, demonstrating friendliness and professionalism in all interactions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail.
- Physical fitness to perform outdoor tasks, including bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods.
