We are seeking a dedicated and environmentally conscious individual to join our team as a Litter Picker. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in designated public areas, contributing to a safer and more attractive community environment. The position offers an opportunity to work outdoors, promote sustainability, and engage with the local community. This is a temporary position for at least 2 months but could be made permanent. Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am-2pm; overtime could be available. Rate of pay is £12.21 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Collect litter and waste from streets, parks, and public spaces using appropriate tools and safety equipment.
  • Dispose of collected waste responsibly in designated bins or disposal sites.
  • Monitor assigned areas regularly to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained.
  • Report any hazards or maintenance issues encountered during patrols to the relevant authorities.
  • Assist with organising community clean-up events when required.
  • Engage courteously with members of the public, providing information if needed and promoting environmental awareness.

Skills

  • Good command of English, both spoken and written, for effective communication with team members and the public.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact politely with community members and colleagues.
  • Customer service orientation, demonstrating friendliness and professionalism in all interactions.
