Job Overview
We are looking for flexible, enthusiastic qualified Children’s Nurses to join the Derby Children’s Continuing Care team at Band 5. The role involves teaching, supporting and supervising Family Support Workers to deliver bespoke care packages for individual children. You will care for children and young people weighing up to 70 kg, working with a second staff member for manual handling when required, and wearing appropriate PPE, including FFP3 masks. Your shifts will include days, long days, nights, weekends, bank holidays and twilight shifts across Derby and Derbyshire. Driving is essential for the role. Specialist training will be provided with opportunities for progression within the team.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist care to children and young people with complex health needs in the community setting, including epilepsy, enteral feeding, tracheostomy care and full home ventilation.
- Work as a Key Worker for individual children with the support of a Band 6/7 Specialist Nurse, delivering high‑quality integrated assessment and ongoing support.
- Act as a mentor, supporting and developing Family Support Workers.
- Maintain up‑to‑date DBS and sign up to the DBS update service to ensure patient and family safety.
- Work in partnership and liaise with multidisciplinary and multi‑agency teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential: Registered Children’s Nurse; Experience mentoring, supporting and developing staff.
- Desirable: Community experience; ITU/HDU experience.
