Edinburgh, Hybrid Working
Full-time, Permanent
We are working with a leading international firm to appoint a Senior Associate or Legal Director to join their highly regarded Professional Indemnity team in Edinburgh.
This is an opportunity to join the senior leadership of an established and growing practice, working alongside recognised specialists on complex, high-value disputes for a global client base. You will play a key role in the future development of the team, with clear progression opportunities available from Senior Associate to Legal Director, or from Legal Director to Partnership. The team is particularly keen to speak with ambitious solicitors who are motivated to develop client relationships, contribute to business development, mentor and manage colleagues, and help shape the continued growth of the practice.
With a strong reputation, the firm has an established presence throughout the UK and internationally. The team forms a key part of the wider national practice, offering excellent opportunities to collaborate across offices while building your own profile within the Scottish market.
While the team advises across a broad range of professional indemnity matters, there is flexibility for individuals to further develop existing sector expertise or build a niche specialism, supported by a strong pipeline of high-quality work and an established client base.
The Role
You’ll advise insurers and professionals on a broad range of professional indemnity and commercial disputes, including the defence of complex negligence claims across multiple sectors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Defending high value and complex professional indemnity claims on behalf of insurers and insured professionals.
- Advising clients across a range of professions, including architects, engineers, construction consultants, accountants, brokers and financial services professionals.
- Managing disputes from pre-action stages through to resolution, including litigation, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
- Advising on liability, policy coverage and risk management issues.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with insurers, policyholders and professional clients.
- Supervising, mentoring and developing junior members of the team.
- Supporting business development initiatives and helping grow existing and new client relationships.
- Contributing to the continued growth and strategic development of the practice.
This opportunity offers a highly competitive salary, ranging from £70,000 - £100,000, together with a generous bonus structure that comfortably achieves around 10% in most years. Alongside this, the firm provides a comprehensive benefits package including private medical insurance, enhanced pension contributions, life assurance, group income protection, enhanced maternity and paternity provisions, generous annual leave entitlement and the option to purchase additional holiday.
The firm is committed to flexible and hybrid working, supporting individuals in balancing high quality client work with life outside the office. Beyond the remuneration and benefits, this role presents a genuine long term career opportunity. The team offers a transparent and achievable progression pathway. For individuals who are eager to build client relationships, develop their own practice area and play a key role in the future growth of the team, there is significant scope to make a lasting impact within a supportive and ambitious environment.
