Iconic Resourcing is working with a well-known business in Glasgow to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to step into a technically demanding, high-visibility role within a large, complex finance function.
Due to the nature of this contract, we're looking for candidates who are available to start at short notice.
The Role
Reporting into the senior finance team, you'll take ownership of the accurate and timely production of financial returns across statutory, internal, and stakeholder reporting. You'll act as the technical lead on group accounting standards, providing training and guidance to the wider team and overseeing accounting for areas including IFRS 16 leases, revenue recognition, holiday pay accruals, inventories, and dilapidations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing ledger integrity, reconciliations, and controls in partnership with systems accountants and the Shared Service Centre
- Line management of a Financial Accountant and wider team members
- Coordinating the statutory and group year-end process, including leading the relationship with external auditors
- Overseeing the Financial Reporting Group Technical function
- Managing the relationship with the external pensions actuary and delivering statutory pension disclosures
- Maintaining the Delegated Financial Authority matrix
- Managing balance sheet budgeting and forecasting, working closely with FP&A
- Supporting delivery of P11Ds, PSAs, VAT, and Corporation Tax returns
- Reviewing and developing accounting policies in line with best practice and stakeholder requirements
- Identifying control weaknesses and driving efficiency improvements
- Coaching and developing the wider finance team
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA)
- University degree
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Proven experience managing and leading a high-performing team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
- A logical, methodical, and commercially-minded approach
