Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Physicist to deliver expert scientific support across the radiotherapy pathway within a modern, high-performing cancer care environment. This role combines hands-on physics with involvement in commissioning, innovation and governance, ensuring safe, effective and timely treatment delivery in line with UK Regulatory Standards (including IR(ME)R and CQC). We are looking for a HCPC-registered clinical scientist (or equivalent) with strong experience in radiotherapy physics - particularly treatment planning support, dosimetry, QA and commissioning - alongside excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. You will be a collaborative team player with a commitment to safety, continuous improvement and the ability to contribute to teaching, service development and a positive, inclusive culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide independent physics checks on treatment plans across a range of techniques and perform patient-specific QA measurements and independent dose verification
- Support commissioning, acceptance testing, and implementation of new technologies, maintaining robust change control and documentation
- Contribute to regulatory compliance including IR(ME)R and IRR17, incident investigation, and quality governance processes
- Collaborate with MDTs to support clinical workflows, provide training and drive continuous service improvement and innovation

Location
Icon UK are proud to be opening a Cancer Centre in Newport, South Wales. The facility is custom-built and will provide state of the art oncology services to our patients. The centre will offer the following services:
- Radiotherapy
- Chemotherapy
- Diagnostic Services
The centre is based just outside of Newport, with convenient access from the M4.
